Explore, Stay & Do in Lanark County

Sometimes, you just need a change of scenery. A quick reset. A break from the routine.

You know that feeling when life gets a little too busy, and all you want is a cozy escape to reset? That was me last weekend. So, I packed up my bags and headed to Lanark County, where I found the perfect mix a cozy space, relaxing in the outdoors, and a few treats, snacks and wine . If you're craving a little getaway (without hopping on a plane), let me take you through this dreamy quick escape—because, friend, we all need this in our lives sometimes.

Stay: A Riverside Retreat at Closs Crossing Airbnb

First things first: where to stay. And let me tell you, the Closs Crossing Airbnb is the best choice for a cozy staycation. Nestled right on the Clyde River in Lanark County, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to ditch your phone, grab a cup of coffee (or wine), and live in the moment. The beautifully designed interiors give major "modern cabin meets Pinterest" vibes, and the outdoor space? Stunning. Whether you're curling up by the firepit, sipping coffee on the deck, or soaking in the hot tub with twinkly lights, it is absolutely incredible.

Treat Yourself: Chocolate & Comfort Food at Village Treats

We quickly learned that no trip is complete without a bit of indulgence, and Village Treats is basically a chocolate-lover’s dream come true. This place has been making handcrafted chocolates since 1979! The best part? They create so many different kinds of truffles, brittles, barks, and so much more —yes, walking into the building smells just as amazing as you’d imagine. I highly recommend the Champaign Truffle! Aside from the chocolates (which, let’s be honest, we definitely stocked up on), they also have a cozy little restaurant serving up homemade comfort food; everything is homemade in-house, so freshness was guaranteed.

Relax & Recharge: Maplestone Ranch & Retreat

We made our way to Maplestone Ranch & Retreat for their Mini Winter Escape Package, and let me tell you—it was absolute bliss. This adult-only thermotherapy spa is all about heat, cold, and rest cycles that leave you feeling refreshed, relaxed, and completely recharged.

For two hours, we had private access to everything: the cozy lounge and changing area, dry sauna, hot tub, outdoor fire pit, and even a cold shower for that energizing plunge. The experience was beyond incredible, peaceful, and exactly what we hoped for. The owners, Tausha and Ryan, were so nice that they added little touches like complimentary herbal tea, maple scones, and cozy towels, making it extra special.

They are currently offering the Mini Winter Escape Packages through March. Don’t worry; during your stay, you can rent a bathrobe or towel for a small extra fee if needed. Book your spot today!

Last minute winter escape? Say less!

Lanark County is the kind of place that sneaks up on you—in the best way. It’s quiet, charming, and packed with hidden gems that make you slow down and enjoy the moment. If you’re looking for a way to squeeze in one last winter escape, this is it—all just a short drive away.
