Closs Crossing: A Cozy Riverside Retreat in Lanark County
You know that feeling when you need a break, but the thought of planning a full-blown vacation feels overwhelming? That’s exactly why I packed my bags and headed to Closs Crossing, a dreamy little riverside Airbnb that made me feel like I’d escaped to another world—without travelling far at all.
Tucked away in the heart of Lanark County, just one hour West outside of Ottawa and 3.5 hours East of Toronto, this cozy Airbnb was the perfect reset.
Think cozy sunny mornings with a coffee in hand, slow afternoons exploring nearby small towns, and evenings unwinding in the hottub or by the fireplace—exactly the kind of staycation I needed. If you’re looking for an easy, stress-free getaway that blends comfort, nature, and a little adventure, let me take you through my weekend at Closs Crossing.
This place just works. It's all here with thoughtful design, peaceful surroundings, and the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to ditch your phone, grab a cup of coffee (or wine), and live in the moment. The beautifully designed interiors give major "modern cabin meets Pinterest" vibes, and the outdoor space? Stunning.
Cozy & Peaceful – Warm, inviting, perfect morning coffee setup, and a space that feels good to be in. The dining area was my favourite to work from in the mornings. Coffee beside me, and the warm morning sun shining through, I couldn’t have asked for a better work spot.
Close to Nature—If you need a rest and recharge, enjoy time in the hot tub (at night, the twinkly outside lights turn on, giving the best vibes) or just enjoy the river views from the deck. Or if you want a spot to call home base for your adventures, this space delivers. Step outside for hiking or explore charming small towns close by.
Sleep in a Treehouse —One of the most unique features is the treehouse-style bedroom—a cozy lofted space that feels like a retreat within a retreat. With a lot of natural light, it’s the perfect spot to wake up slowly, sip coffee in bed, and enjoy a good book.
Slow Mornings and Exploring
After a slow start to the day, we woke up and sipped on coffee for hours, just admiring the natural sunlight coming through the windows. The kitchen is completely stocked with everything you need (honestly, they thought of everything!). I would highly recommend packing up groceries and enjoying cooking in the kitchen.
We decided to head into town for a little adventure. Perth is just a short drive away; let me tell you—it’s charming. Wandering through the historic streets, stopping for brunch at a cozy café, and browsing local shops made for the perfect afternoon. (If you haven’t yet, check out my guide on An Afternoon Well Spent in Perth—it’s full of the best spots!)
Slow Evenings & Cozy Nights
Back at Closs Crossing, we spent the evening cooking away in the kitchen, accompanied with a few glasses of wine, relaxed in the hot tub and curled up by the fireplace with a book, with desserts from handcrafted chocolates from Village Treats (because no trip to Lanark County is complete without them!).
It’s funny how a place so close to home still feels like a total escape. If you’re looking for a weekend that feels like a breath of fresh air, choose Closs Crossing. Whether you need a quiet solo retreat, a romantic weekend, or a friends getaway, this riverside escape delivers. Book your stay here.
